Most research on violence against people with disabilities and Deaf people has focused on the needs and experiences of women. However, emerging research suggests that men with disabilities also experience high rates of violence.
In partnership with the Department of Justice, Vera’s Center on Victimization and Safety will explore the unique needs of male survivors with disabilities and how best to meet these needs. Ultimately, the project seeks to provide policy and practice recommendations to the field about how to best serve male survivors with disabilities, as well as to develop trainings for staff of disability, domestic violence, and rape crisis organizations about this issue.
