Santiago Mueckay

Santiago Mueckay works as associate director of advocacy for Vera's Advancing Universal Representation initiative. In his role, Santiago leads federal government relations and lobbying efforts, working to achieve the passage of the Fairness to Freedom Act, among other universal representation policies.

Before joining Vera in 2024, Santiago served as associate director for child and family migration policy at Save the Children. During his five-year tenure, he created and led the organization’s federal migration portfolio, working to maintain migrant family unity and protect access to asylum. Santiago also previously worked at Save the Children International as a researcher, where he focused on migration flows and externalization mechanisms in the European Union.

Santiago holds a BA in political science from the Macaulay Honors College at Baruch College and an MPP from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
