Commercial bail bond operations benefit from a predatory system, extracting money from people who do not have the means to post cash bail. These operations are harmful to communities and exert political power against efforts to reform bail systems. Communities can pressure state legislatures to address these harms by making commercial bail bond operations illegal under state law.
