Neil Shovelin

Neil Shovelin is the creative director in Vera’s communications and external affairs department. Neil leads the creative team in innovating Vera’s visual brand to build strategic projects and campaigns that raise awareness of the Institute’s work and engage and activate key audiences.

Neil joined Vera in 2023, bringing over 15 years of experience working at nonprofits, including the ACLU and the Clinton Foundation. At the ACLU, he was responsible for managing the design and production of digital and print collateral for the organization’s national headquarters, in addition to liaising with 54 affiliate offices. Neil led creative strategy on numerous campaigns, such as the Systemic Equality campaign, the 100th Anniversary All of Us campaign and the ACLU’s continued reproductive justice efforts. He has also worked as both an in-house and contract designer in the e-commerce and apparel industries.

Neil holds a BA in industrial design from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, in his native Scotland.
