Logan Schmidt

Logan served as the federal policy associate at Vera’s Washington, DC office. In this role, he worked to elevate a variety of Vera priorities to the federal level, namely Second Chance Pell and postsecondary education in prison. Logan regularly participated in advocacy meetings on Capitol Hill, engaged with partner organizations through briefings and panel discussions, and attended other events in DC pertaining to the interests of the federal policy team. Previously, he served as the editorial intern for Vera on the State of Justice Reform 2018 report, in which his duties included supplemental research, citation checking, and website copy entry.

Prior to joining Vera, Logan worked as a research/teaching assistant for a college-in-prison course taught at the Washington State Penitentiary, comprised of both incarcerated students and Whitman College undergraduates. Logan holds a BA in Politics from Whitman College, with minors in German and Music Composition.
