Kelsey Reid

As a program associate in Vera’s Center on Sentencing and Corrections, Kelsey provides technical assistance to local jurisdictions committed to reducing their jail populations, including sites participating in the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation's Safety and Justice Challenge. Prior to joining Vera, Kelsey served in The White House Domestic Policy Council during the Obama Administration, where she collaborated with federal agencies and local jurisdictions to implement data-driven criminal justice policies and policing reforms. She previously worked in Mumbai, India conducting economic and statistical analysis and providing technical assistance for a joint project between a state government agency, private foundation, and research organization. Kelsey became interested in violence and justice issues during high school, and went on to contribute to research and volunteer with organizations addressing gender-based violence and youth gun violence in several cities in the U.S. and abroad during college. She holds a BA with honors in public policy with concentrations in gender, violence, and economic development from the University of Chicago.
