Vera Institute of Justice

Kate Lazar Vargas is the benefits & data associate in the People, Place, and Culture department. In this role, she oversees benefits administration, wellness strategy, and ensures the accuracy of HRIS system data.

Having joined Vera in 2022, Kate brings a variety of experience in the nonprofit sector, having worked in operations, finance, project management, and human resources.

In addition to her work at Vera, Kate serves as treasurer for the Brooklyn Community Chorus.

Kate holds a BA in anthropology and women’s, gender, and sexuality studies from Brandeis University and is a Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional.
