Vera Institute of Justice

Gaia Filicori is the associate director of media strategy in Vera’s communications and external affairs department, promoting earned media efforts across the Institute.

Before joining Vera in 2023, Gaia worked as the director of communications for WIRED and Ars Technica. In her role, she led media outreach, frequently booking editors and writers on television and radio to discuss their reporting on how technology is changing our everyday lives. Gaia also co-led events programming, including WIRED’s three-day 25th anniversary conference in San Francisco.

Outside of Vera, Gaia serves on the advisory committee of Quail Hill Farm in New York—one of the first community-supported agriculture farms in the United States—which aims to advance food equity and access, and educate the public on the principles of responsible land stewardship.

Gaia holds a BA in human rights from Bard College.
