Justice was on the ballot in New Orleans and we chose six new criminal district court judges, two new juvenile court judges, and a new district attorney. Vera New Orleans is ready to work with you to bring more transparency to the criminal legal system and help hold the system and its leaders accountable.
This year, Vera New Orleans provided government officials with guidance and advocacy to respond to COVID-19, which resulted in a 25% jail population reduction; raised awareness and created resources about the role of district attorneys in systemic reform; and advocated to end the imposition of court fees on people caught in the criminal legal system.
