The Network

  • Supports local communities in protecting the well-being and rights of all residents;
  • Shows a strong commitment to due process and fairness in our justice system, and representation of immigrants in removal proceedings, with a priority for those who are detained;
  • Aspires to representation of all immigrants in removal proceedings through a “universal representation” model, where the only eligibility criteria for representation are 1) residency and 2) financial eligibility; and
  • Commits to providing public dollars for removal defense.

Vera provides: (1) matching funds from private philanthropy, (2) in-kind infrastructure and support in the form of program management, technical assistance and training, and (3) research with an eye toward evaluation and coordination across the network.
