William Freeman

William Freeman joined Vera in January 2021. He is the inaugural Fred Patrick fellow working with Vera’s Opening Doors to Public Housing Initiative with the Center on Sentencing and Corrections. Prior to joining Vera, William served more than 20 years in prison, where he discovered the transformative power of higher education attending Goucher’s Prison Education Partnership. Upon his release, he transferred onto Goucher’s main campus. William completed his undergraduate degree at Goucher College in 2020, where he studied sociology and anthropology. He plans to pursue a master’s in public health degree from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in the summer of 2021. Recently, William was one of six people selected from a pool of 400 applicants to be an Ed Trust Justice Policy Fellow.
