Vanessa Rios

Vanessa Rios is the director of monitoring, evaluation, and learning. She partners with initiatives along Vera’s impact pipeline to define impact goals, develop metrics, and embed evaluation and learning.

Prior to Vera, Vanessa supported learning and evaluation at the Open Society Foundations, working across issue areas to ensure that strategy, grant-making practices, and learning were mutually reinforcing. In previous roles, she partnered with global feminist organizations and advocates to design and implement collaborative documentation projects that built evidence for advocacy; strengthened organizational capacity to monitor and learn from advocacy, movement building, and grant-making strategies; and facilitated opportunities for collective learning, reflection, and adaptation.

Vanessa serves on the board of directors of the NY Abortion Access Fund and mentors first-generation college students through Ascend Educational Fund. She holds an MPH in global health from Emory University and a BS in human development from Cornell University. She lives in Brooklyn with her partner and their dog, Luna.
