V Thompkins is a senior data scientist with Vera's Incarceration and Inequality Project, developing data products and analyses that describe the relationship between the past five decades of incarceration in the United States and the economic wellbeing of communities. In their role, V leads technical projects using data sources that have never been systematically combined to draw novel connections, amplifying mass incarceration’s systemic impact and the institutional racism experienced by local communities daily.

Previously, V worked at the Center for Policing Equity, where he collaborated across divisions to develop and maintain data infrastructure and collected, standardized, and analyzed millions of 911 calls from localities nationwide. V has also held roles at the Crime and Justice Institute, where they focused on pretrial and youth justice, and the Brennan Center for Justice, where he conducted fines and fees research.

V holds a BA in international affairs and economics and an MPA from Northeastern University.
