Vera Institute of Justice

Stephen Jones works part time as a research associate with Vera’s Jails Team. He is a skilled writer, archival researcher, and interviewer. Most recently, he has assisted Vera researchers studying and writing about the criminalization of poverty in Tennessee and Kentucky.

Before joining Vera in 2022, Stephen was an Applied Justice Research Fellow at Vera during the 2020–2021 academic year.

Stephen has been a student at the City University of New York since 2012. He holds a BA from Hunter College and an MA from the Graduate Center. Currently, he is a doctoral candidate at the Graduate Center.
