Vera Institute of Justice

Shirin Assadian is the operations associate in Vera’s research department. She manages the Neil A. Weiner Speaker Series, coordinates Vera’s institutional review board, facilitates fellowships with the City University of New York, and provides support to researchers.

Before joining Vera in May 2022, Shirin started her career working in professional development at an international law firm based in New York, which cultivated her interest in legal advocacy.

As someone who is passionate about educational rights, she conducted qualitative research on the effects of occupation on university students in Palestine.

Shirin holds a BA in political science and global studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
