Shayna Kessler

Shayna Kessler (she/her) is the state advocacy manager for Vera’s Advancing Universal Representation initiative. Her work focuses on building support for universal representation across the country. Shayna joined Vera in 2017 to work on the Unaccompanied Children Program, a national initiative that increases access to legal services for unaccompanied immigrant children. Prior to Vera, she was the associate director of the Workers’ Rights Clinic at the University of Arizona’s James E. Rogers College of Law, where she advocated for the protection of the rights of low-wage immigrant workers. Prior to working at the University of Arizona, Shayna was a public defender at the Bronx Defenders. Before law school, Shayna worked at the Correctional Association of New York and the Bronx Defenders. Shayna received her JD from Brooklyn Law School and her BA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
