Sergio Rodriguez Camarena

Sergio is a program analyst II on Vera's California team. He focuses on supporting Los Angeles County’s efforts to expand alternatives to incarceration, diversion, and community-based systems of care. He joined Vera as a program analyst in the Center on Immigration and Justice's Unaccompanied Children Program in 2019. Before Vera, Sergio worked as a community fellow with the Immigrant Justice Corps (IJC) in New York. As a BIA-accredited representative, he provided legal representation to low-income immigrant communities. Prior to IJC, Sergio worked at Programma Integra in Rome to improve the conditions of refugees and asylum seekers. Sergio received his BA in international relations from Pomona College. He also studied immigration law and policy in Freiburg, Germany and through a PPIA Fellowship at Princeton University. Sergio was born in Sayula, Mexico and grew up in Santa Ana, California. He lives with his husband and his beautiful fur babies in Los Angeles.
