Sauda Muhammad
Sauda Muhammad is a pre-doctoral research fellow with Vera's Beyond Jails initiative, helping local government and community partners develop plans for jail decarceration, prevent the construction of new jails, and design reinvestment strategies. In her role, Sauda supports quantitative and qualitative data analysis efforts and report writing, in addition to helping manage new and ongoing research projects.
Before joining Vera in 2024, Sauda worked in clinical research management at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. She also previously conducted mixed-methods research projects at the Research Foundation of the City University of New York (CUNY).
In addition to her work at Vera, Sauda is a provost enhancement fellow at the CUNY Graduate Center and a RIN Scholar at the Stone Center, focusing on research and policy analysis to reduce inequality.
Sauda holds a BS from Salisbury University and an MS in applied sociology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
