Vera Institute of Justice

Mayra is a program associate for Vera’s Advancing Universal Representation initiative. Prior to Vera, Mayra was a community fellow with the Immigrant Justice Corps, placed at Empire Justice Center in Yonkers, NY. As a BIA representative, she provided direct legal representation to immigrants and conducted community education initiatives. Mayra previously worked as an organizer with the Migrant Clinicians Network and was a FirstGEN civil rights fellow at the National Immigration Law Center. She graduated from Salisbury University with a double major in international studies and conflict analysis & dispute resolution. Mayra was born in Lima, Peru.
