Mayra Melendez

Mayra joined the Center on Immigration and Justice in August 2017. She is a program analyst with the center's SAFE Cities Project. Prior to Vera, Mayra was a community fellow with the Immigrant Justice Corps, placed at Empire Justice Center in Yonkers, NY. As a BIA representative, she provided direct legal representation to immigrants and conducted community education initiatives. Mayra previously worked as an organizer with the Migrant Clinicians Network and was a FirstGEN civil rights fellow at the National Immigration Law Center. She graduated from Salisbury University with a double major in International Studies and Conflict Analysis & Dispute Resolution. Mayra was born in Lima, Peru.
