Khusbu Bhakta

Khusbu joined Vera in 2017. She helps develop and maintain infrastructure within the Executive team for sharing information internally and for engaging staff at all levels. She plays a key role in managing the board of trustees, partnering with the Chief of Staff and President on driving big organization-wide endeavors like strategic planning and strengthening Vera’s internal communications apparatus and structure. Khusbu also coordinates Vera’s Leadership Team and handles special projects.

Prior to joining Vera, Khusbu worked at Penguin Random House where she worked with the speakers bureau and provided support to numerous authors, including Bryan Stevenson. She also volunteers with the Parole Preparation Project, an organization that works with incarcerated individuals serving indeterminate life sentences to assist with preparation for their parole hearings. She holds a BA in journalism and media studies from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and has done graduate work in publishing at NYU’s Publishing Institute. She holds a Professional Certificate in Management from the University of Notre Dame's Mendoza College of Business and is currently pursuing her masters in nonprofit administration from LSU.
