Jack W. Duran

Jack does creative content strategy for Vera’s Restoring Promise Initiative—producing multimedia and story-telling projects, ranging from video, animation, photography, short form editorial pieces, digital design, print design, web design, and more, with a critical eye toward changing the mainstream narrative about prison conditions reform, incarcerated people, corrections staff, and ultimately what justice means. He also helps develop the initiative’s budding International Learning Exchange component, which involves coordinating international visits, and developing relations with international partners from corrections systems in other countries with the goal of applying more effective and humane international models of justice to the American justice system.

Prior to fully joining Restoring Promise, Jack was Digital Associate in Vera's Communications Department where he helped manage content and digital design for Vera’s social media accounts and provided support for digital engagement and growth efforts, including for the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation’s Safety and Justice Challenge. In that role, he also produced wide-ranging multimedia content for projects and initiatives across the entire organization. Prior to joining Vera, Jack worked at JustLeadershipUSA where he worked in operations and event planning for the organization's leadership training conferences for formerly incarcerated people and its #CLOSErikers campaign.

He holds a B.A. in International Relations and Middle East Studies from Drew University.
