Vera Institute of Justice

Emma Maleko works as the associate director for digital fundraising in Vera’s communications and external affairs department. In her role, Emma helps to create and implement annual fundraising strategies across the Institute’s digital channels, building brand awareness and supporting organizational efforts to advance criminal legal and immigration reform.

Emma joined Vera in 2023, bringing nearly 10 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising. Most recently, she was the donor development manager at Action Against Hunger USA. In this role, she led the implementation and growth of sustainer, midlevel, and peer-to-peer giving programs. She also previously worked for Fountain House, a national mental health nonprofit, where she delivered direct response fundraising campaigns.

Emma holds an MPH in health policy and management from the City University of New York Graduate School of Public Health & Health Policy.
