Eliza Lipset

Eliza Lipset is the legal coordinator in Vera's legal department. In her role, Eliza supports the Institute’s in-house counsel and liaises between the department and Vera staff, helping to execute contracts, report lobbying activity, and maintain organizational compliance.

Before joining Vera in 2023, Eliza worked at Brooklyn Justice Initiatives as a case manager/social worker for the Supervised Release Program, a pretrial alternative to bail and incarceration. She provided participants with comprehensive, clinically-informed case management services and referrals, working to address issues including substance use, mental health, domestic violence, and housing insecurity.

Outside of Vera, Eliza is part of several New York-based mutual aid groups, including Washington Square Park Mutual Aid, Riders 4 Rights, and Brooklyn Eviction Defense.

Eliza holds a BA in history and education from Barnard College. A former Fulbright Scholar, she taught English in Taiwan.
