Courtney Lee

Court (they/them) is a senior program associate with Vera’s Advancing Universal Representation initiative, a national initiative dedicated to providing publicly funded legal representation for people facing deportation. Court’s experience as an advocate, community organizer, and lawyer informs their commitments in the immigrants’ rights and end detention movements. Before joining Vera, Court served as a NYIFUP staff attorney at the Bronx Defenders representing people incarcerated by ICE and in deportation proceedings in New York. Prior to that, they supported migrant populations through their work at the Capital Area Immigrants’ Rights Coalition, the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia, and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Court holds a JD from Georgetown University Law Center and a BA from the University of Texas at Austin. They speak Spanish and are learning Tagalog.
