J. Clifford Hudson

Following an extended and successful career in business, J. Clifford Hudson joined the law firm Crowe & Dunlevy in 2019; he serves of counsel in the firm’s Oklahoma City office. As former Chairman of the Board and CEO (1995-2018) of Sonic Corp., an Oklahoma City-based, publicly held, restaurant operator and franchisor, he previously served Sonic as general counsel, chief financial officer and chief operating officer.

Hudson was appointed by President Bill Clinton to serve as chairman of the board of directors of the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC) from 1994-2001. He served as trustee of the Ford Foundation (New York) from 2006-2017 and is a past chair of the board of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. He is the author of “Master of None”, a business memoir published by Harper-Collins, to be released in 2020.

A graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center, Hudson served as an editor of the International Law Journal (a publication of the Association of Student International Law Societies) and was a member of the legal honor society Phi Delta Phi. He previously served as chair of the board of visitors for Georgetown University Law Center and was honored with its Paul Dean Award. He has also been awarded with the Georgetown Alumni Association’s highest honor—the John Carroll Award.

Hudson joined Vera’s Board of Trustees in 2019.
