Asia Bowman

Asia is a program associate on Vera’s Ending Girls’ Incarceration team. Asia has fulfilled direct service, policy, and research roles within the social service sector. Prior to joining Vera, she worked as a co-instructor at {shecrew}, creating safe spaces for girls and gender nonconforming youth across Chicago. Previously at Chapin Hall, she evaluated piloted child welfare interventions to help determine the ongoing status of a consent decree. And at the Chicago Area Fair Housing Alliance, she co-authored a report highlighting the effects of aldermanic prerogative, which currently serves as the basis for a housing complaint against the City of Chicago. Asia has a bachelor's degree in sociology from Ohio State University and a master's in social work from the University of Chicago.
