Arisel Garcia
Arisel Garcia is a senior program associate for Vera’s Advancing Universal Representation initiative, dedicated to providing publicly funded legal representation for people facing deportation.
Before joining Vera in 2020, Arisel worked at Catholic Charities Community Services of New York, managing the implementation of monthly orientations for sponsors of unaccompanied minors in removal proceedings and advocating for children detained in the Office of Refugee Resettlement custody.
Outside of Vera, Arisel advocates for reproductive justice in New York City, including volunteering as a case manager for the New York Abortion Access Fund and organizing to inform BIPOC communities about the impact of limited access to reproductive health care.
Arisel holds an MA in international affairs from the Milano School of International Affairs, Management, and Urban Policy at the New School. During her graduate studies, she worked in Colombia to design and implement a participatory community development project for low-income housing residents.
