Anthony Chiarito

Tony serves as communications director for Vera’s Center on Immigration and Justice, where he develops messaging and media strategies to support the center’s advocacy. He comes to Vera with almost a decade of experience working on social justice campaigns in both the private and public sector. Before Vera, Tony worked in the New York City Council, where he drafted legislation and ran successful media campaigns to protect New Yorkers from detention, deportation, and displacement. Before that, he worked at a New York-based public affairs firm that supported causes fighting for justice in the criminal legal system. A native Spanish speaker, Tony earned a master’s from Columbia University’s School of International & Public Affairs, and a bachelor’s from Johns Hopkins University.
