Vera’s experts conduct research and analysis and develop policies and programs in a variety of criminal and social justice fields. Their varied knowledge, background, and experience enable Vera to address the full spectrum of national and local justice issues.

In January 2011, Vera’s Prosecution and Racial Justice Program (PRJ) began a partnership with the New York County District Attorney’s office (DANY).
Vera’s Center on Immigration and Justice (CIJ) is conducting a two-year research study to validate and disseminate a human trafficking victim-screening tool with the potential to improve victim identification, victim services, and law enforcement on a national scale.
Vera research staff are conducting three types of quantitative analyses in their work to help prisons safely decrease the number of people held in isolation, also known as segregation.
