This report describes Delaware Governor Jack Markell's creation of a justice reinvestment task force and his announcement today of a new project in partnership with the Vera Institute of Justice. "We're looking at our public safety spending and asking, 'Can we do a better job providing a service that taxpayers expect?'" He concluded, "Taxpayers expect to live in safe communities."
The report also quotes Delaware Department of Corrections Commissioner Carl Danberg, who said he oversees "a massive organization....The state deserves to know whether or not the money being spent is being spent wisely."
