Annie Salsich, director of Vera's Center on Youth Justice, was quoted in a story from the Associated Press that was printed in the Palm Beach Post about Florida's Children in Need of Services/Families in Need of Services program. The program is designed to keep families together and to keep youth out of court by using counseling, parental involvement, and shelter. According to Florida TaxWatch, the program has saved the state of Florida millions of dollars by keeping kids out of court and prison. Salsich was quoted as saying, "We very much believe that it's a model and a promising practice for other jurisdictions to refer to."
