New York Times, "States prosecute fewer teenagers in adult courts"

The New York Times reports that many states are sending fewer teenagers through the adult criminal justice system and cites Vera's report, Cost-Benefit Analysis of Raising the Age of Juvenile Jurisdiction in North Carolina. That report found that the specific plan to raise the age of juvenile jurisdiction in North Carolina will cost taxpayers $70.9 million a year and that this annually reoccurring investment will generate $123.1 million in reoccurring benefits to youth, victims, and taxpayers over the long term.
