During this past weekend, the New York Times published a letter to the editor from Annie Salsich, director of Vera's Center on Youth Justice, in response to a February 18 editorial that urged Governor Paterson to include the recommendations of the Task Force on Transforming Juvenile Justice in his budget proposal. The letter from Salsich underscores the need for alternatives to incarceration for youth.
