Fox8TV, "Wheels of justice turning faster"

Jon Wool, director of Vera's New Orleans office, along with Leon Cannizzarro, district attorney, and Derwyn Bunton with the Public Defender's Office updated the City Council on the progress of the Expedited Screening Initiative.
"Jon Wool with VERA says, 'It shortened the time from arrest to when the district attorney's office files a screening decision from 61 days—that is how long it used to take—to now 6 days.' It also sliced the time from detention to going before a judge from 64 days to 10, results a criminal justice team effort touted to the city council.
