Leah Morgan, coordinator of Vera's Ohio Green Prison Project, wrote about the benefits and challenges of prison-based green job training programs in the latest issue of Corrections Today, a publication of the American Correctional Association. Because the green sector of the labor market is growing—and given that many "clean-energy jobs require relatively low or moderate educational levels and can lead to positions with long-term security"—such projects are promising ways to make correctional facilities more energy-efficient while providing incarcerated men and women with meaningful job prospects upon release.
