The Department of Homeland Security picks up thousands of unaccompanied, undocumented minors every year, according to the Office of Refugee Resettlement; 85 percent of them come from Guatemala, El Salvador or Honduras. These young people then face deportation proceedings—and more than half do so without a lawyer.
