Some Ohio legislators are trying to reduce prison overcrowding to not only reduce costs but to also avoid overcrowding that some fear will lead to violence. The Enquirer story cites Vera's 2009 report The Fiscal Crisis in Corrections: Rethinking Policies and Practices, which found that at least 26 states are reducing corrections funding.
