Services

Vera operates by partnering with foundations and with government officials and community organizations at the local, national, and international levels to help improve the systems people rely on for justice and safety. Our core services are conducting research and analysis, providing technical assistance, and creating demonstration projects.

Research

Vera's research department conducts three types of research: exploratory research on issues of interest to Vera, a government partner, or other nonprofit organizations; evaluations of innovative programs, including Vera's own demonstration projects; and applied research that contributes to knowledge while enhancing justice system policy and practice.

Technical Assistance

Vera offers a range of technical assistance services to help government partners improve their systems for delivering justice. We provide decision makers at the local, state, and national level with expertise and nonpartisan advice to help them craft practical solutions that are viable, effective, and sustainable.

Planning & Demonstration Projects

Vera and its government partners plan and implement demonstration projects to test and refine new solutions to serious problems like violent crime and chronic truancy. Vera demonstration projects allow government officials to get buy-in from stakeholders before applying the solutions to a large government system, such as parole, juvenile justice, or child welfare.
